In August of this year, we returned to England to visit family and friends. We started in London, doing the usual tourist things, including visiting the Tower of London (in the rain), a boat trip out to Greenwich. London has changed considerably over the past twenty years; so much so that Robie got lost in Hammersmith and couldn't even find the Hammersmith Bridge to take Adrian to his old school!

After exploring London and visiting Maurice and Sophie Biriotti, we went to Cambridge.  Robie shared his memories of St. John’s College with us. It was great fun to walk right past the signs saying "KEEP OUT! MEMBERS ONLY" and see the college in detail. At the Hall, we met a very nice man who gave us the whole history of dining at St. John's for the past 50 years! The porters seemed more helpful than they had been when Robie was an undergraduate, and made sure that we were able to rent a punt (a flat bottom boat). Robie took the opportunity to teach Adrian the correct way to maneuver a punt around all the tourists.

The Punting Lesson

These poles are heavier than they were when I was young!
